It's based on a growing body of evidence shows that certain foods - specifically, fats - can impact the way the body handles pain.
Dr. Kimberly Greenwald is a pain specialist. Says while diet alone often isn't the sole cause or cure for pain, it can play a role.
"Milk products make joint pain worse in certain patients, and other things along those same lines," says Dr. Greenwald, "trying to work within the problem they have and figure out what dietary things might be helpful."
